There are a few features that should be looked at when a hospitality application on the MERLIN LEGEND® Communications System/MERLIN MAGIX™ Integrated System is being considered. These features include:
1. Extension Status - Room Status - Room Restrictions 2. Reminder Service - Wake up Calls EXTENSION STATUS: There are two modes of operation for the Extension Status feature in the MERLIN System. The Hotel Mode or Calling Group Mode can be selected from the options menu during system programming. This feature is available on all switch releases. The Hotel Mode gives the front desk employees the ability to monitor room status and restrict the telephones of unoccupied rooms. The three states are: Status 0 Room is occupied and outside calls can be placed from telephone limited by administered restriction. Status 1 Room is unoccupied and ready for cleaning. Outside calls cannot be made from telephone. Status 2 Room is ready for occupancy but outside calls can’t be made from telephone. Changing the status of the rooms for status 1 and 2 (unoccupied) can be done from any type of set by using a programmed button or the feature button and dialing a code. To change status to 0 (occupied), you must have a DLC console. When using the DLC console with a Direct Station Selector (DSS), an extension with no light indicates an occupied room. When the light is flashing, the room’s status is unoccupied and ready for cleaning. When light is on the room has been cleaned and ready for occupancy. The DSS can also be used to check the message waiting light status. To do this, press the Message Status button on the DSS and if the light is on, then that room’s message waiting light has been turned on. The Extension Status/Supervisory Operation can be used on any DLC (Direct Line Console) operator’s station, digital or analog. QCC (Queued Call Consoles) cannot be used for Extension Status/Supervisory Operation. REMINDER SERVICE: In the Hotel Mode, Reminder Service can be use to make wake up calls for hotel customers. When Reminder Service is set for a telephone, the system makes a call to the extension at or close to the preset time. This time could differ up to three minutes and the system clock should be set accurately. The call will ring for 30 seconds, and if not answered or the station is busy, the system considers it a missed reminder. If answered the reminder is canceled. When a Reminder Service call is missed, a display console operator can use a Missed Reminder button to view these messages. The name, the extension, and the set time for the missed reminder call will show on the display. After reading the missed reminder calls, the console operator can use a programmed Reminder Service button to resend the Reminder Service. The console can then clear missed reminders using the programmed Missed Reminder and Reminder Cancel buttons. The system can also cancel reminders at a preset time. Reminder Service can be set from a Single-Line Set, a Multi-line Set, or a DLC operator console. A Queued Call Console Operator cannot use Reminder Service. The feature code to set Reminder Service is *81 followed by the 4-digit time plus 2 for AM or 7 for PM. To cancel Reminder Service simply dial **81. On Multi-button sets you can program Reminder Service buttons. A DLC Console Operator can set and cancel Reminder Service as well as monitor for Missed Reminder Service for any extension in the system via programmed buttons on set. SMDR Port:For integration with PMS management software, call accounting systems, or printers.
